Working with a metal fabricator I designed and installed this custom front to showcase the arched fireplace.
The original cabinet was wonderfully rustic and perfect for this cabin in the Poconos. The countertop was solid and substantial, unfortunately it was covered in white formica. I was able to strip off the veneer and coat it with a concrete mix tinted to a deep charcoal.
The exterior doors of this lake house are made up of 2×6 tongue and groove boards bolted together. I was able to recreate the look with custom-ordered lumber to craft this sliding barn door for the master bedroom.
The hardware was custom ordered, hand made from a source in Utah.
After a particularly bad storm ripped the dock off its lakeside deck, I rebuilt it better and stronger than the original.
Liz wanted an herb garden she could move from sun to shade as needed. We looked at dozens of ideas, none of which was just right, so I pulled together a sketch with features from several examples to create this rolling planter. Rough-sawn cedar gives it a rustic touch, and over time will weather to a silver-gray patina.
I replaced the original black iron railings with white composite material. The size and “pop” of white really set the stage for a beautiful entrance.
I can’t take full credit for this–the sign had been found on the property, carved, but badly damaged. I repaired the sign, painted it and built the post to hang it.
The brick patio of this home got torturously hot in the summer. I recommended and installed a triangular sun shade.
Rarely did guests arrive by the front door, so an attractive backyard entrance was important. It started with a bluestone walkway which lead to a mahogany deck, tiered to accommodate a built-in hot tub, grill area, and a large octagonal dining area, all cascading down to the lawn without the need for confining railings.
So, I decided to make gifts for friends and family for Christmas 2014. This rustic beer caddy includes a distressed bottle opener to complete the look… and the functionality.
Did I mention I also created Wine Caddies?
