The original cabinet was wonderfully rustic and perfect for this cabin in the Poconos. The countertop was solid and substantial, unfortunately it was covered in white formica. I was able to strip off the veneer and coat it with a concrete mix tinted to a deep charcoal.
This cabinet combined a message center which included a magnetic surface with a chalkboard finish. The spice storage was a perfect fit for the wall adjacent the cooking prep area. Additionally, it had a display area for collectibles.
These were perfectly good cabinets, just a bit outdated, so I veneered them, replaced the doors in solid cherry, and added new hardware.
